Betty Jean Pierce Adrian was born March 25, 1943 to Lillie and Ray Pierce in Thomasville, Missouri. She attended Thomasville School for 11 years and then transferred to Alton High School where she graduated in 1961 and met the love of her life, Wayne. They were married on November 18, 1961 at Pennwood Community Church and lived the majority of their lives on their farm in the Pennwood Community outside of Alton. They were blessed with a son, Wayne “Butch”, and a daughter, Roxene.
She was called home on August 21, 2024. She was happiest at home on their farm and doing things for others. She had an enormous heart and her unconditional love and kindness towards family, friends and strangers was unsurpassed. Crafting and sewing were favorite pastimes and she often made gifts which continue to be cherished by the recipients. Passionate for flowers and gardening, she had the greenest of thumbs and selflessly shared the fruits of her labor with others. Her tenderness and kindness to her animals is well known to everyone that knew her. Humble to a fault, she was content being the supporting partner to her husband and her family, friends, church, and community. She loved cooking and went to lengths to prepare the favorite dish of each guest visiting her home; no one ever went hungry at the farm – especially the animals. She lived with a happy heart which was evidenced by her joyful voice. An angel on earth, her loss will be felt by all.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Max, Kenneth, Leahman, Mary Lou, and JoAnn, and several nieces and nephews. She is survived by her husband, children, 5 grandsons Corey Adrian, Caleb Adrian, Matthew Willis, Joshua Miller, and Nicholas Miller, numerous great-grandchildren, and her sister, Ramona Joy.
Visitation will be 1:00-2:00pm Sunday August 25, 2024 at the Clary Funeral Home, Alton, MO with funeral service to follow at 2:00pm. Burial will be in the Smith Cemetery.
