Betty Jean Satterfield, 91 years, 3 months, 17 days old, passed peacefully on November 15, 2023, at the Mercy Hospital, Springfield, MO with her son and family by her side.
Betty was born July 29, 1932, in Springfield, MO to James Earnest and Jessie (Cunningham) Morrison. Betty was raised in the Douglas County community.
On November 9, 1955, Betty and Cecil Satterfield were united in marriage at Mansfield, MO and together were blessed with a son, Jim.
Betty began her teaching career the Douglas County area and taught in rural schools for eleven years. She then taught in the Ava school district for three years before serving as the elementary school counselor for twenty-five years.
She enjoyed going to garage sales, shopping, mowing, and just being outdoors. Betty was a Christian and a member of the Black Oak General Baptist Church. Betty served in the church as a Secretary, Sunday School Teacher, Piano player and Treasurer.
Betty adored her family, and they did her.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cecil in 1983; her siblings, J.D. Morrison, Ernestine Myers and Thelma Hale Posey.
She is survived by her son, Jim and wife, Diana Satterfield; her two granddaughters, Shelly Lee and husband, Davey, and Jaime Satterfield-Cottrell and husband, Joshua; great grandchildren, Austin, Alison, Leah, Emma and Maggie; one brother, Larry and wife, Doris Morrison; one sister; Chloe Wolford; sister-in-law, Vonda Bains-Morrison; a special friend, Daryel Armour; many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Betty will be Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial following in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service on Saturday at 1:00 P.M. Officiating will be Pastors Oren Alcorn and Tom Hale.
