Funeral Services for Betty Watson, Age 88 of Mountain Grove, Missouri (formerly of Willow Springs, Missouri) will be held on Thursday, September 17th, 2026 at The Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mountain Grove, Missouri, beginning at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 16th, 2026 at The Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 PM. Burial will take place in The Willow Springs Cemetery, Mountain Grove, Missouri. Betty Sue (Carter) Watson, daughter of the late Elbridge and Wilma Marie (Long) Carter, was born April 22, 1938, in Wright County, Missouri. She departed this life on September 14, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. As a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, she passed away peacefully, leaving behind a life marked by devotion, hard work, and unwavering loyalty to those she loved.
Betty was a devoted wife and loving mother who dedicated her life to her family. She was a quiet and humble woman, never seeking attention for herself, but her presence brought comfort and strength to those around her.
She was a woman of remarkable strength and character-loyal, dependable, and never afraid of hard work. She could always be counted on when her family needed her. She gave generously of herself and taught those around her the value of commitment, perseverance, and putting the people you love first.
Betty was also known for being an incredible cook. Her kitchen was a place where family gathered, stories were shared, and memories were made. Her food was special not simply because it was delicious, but because everything she made was prepared with love. The meals, recipes, and traditions she passed down will continue to bring her family together for generations to come.
Betty’s greatest joy was her family. She cherished her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren and each generation held a special place in her heart. Her love was quiet but unmistakable. It was shown through the countless ways she cared for, supported, and provided for the people she loved.
Betty leaves behind a lifetime of memories; family meals around the table, traditions passed down, conversations, hard work, and simple everyday moments that became treasured memories.
Though she will be deeply missed, the example she lived will remain. Her loyalty, strength, work ethic, humility, and devotion to her family will continue to shape the generations who follow her.
Betty will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and treasured great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother-a quiet woman with a generous heart, and an unwavering love for her family.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Elbridge and Marie Carter; two sisters, Doris Reed and Bee Turner; one brother, Elbridge Carter Jr.; and two sisters-in-law, Blanche Crewse and Gail Carter.
Betty is survived by her husband of over 71 years, Charles Watson; one daughter, Donna Watson Prouty (Gary); two sons, Terry Watson and Timothy Watson (Violet); one brother, Gene Carter; one sister-in-law, Nellie Ketel; forty-two grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, with two more on the way; and many other relatives and friends.
