Beulah Mae Duncan, 88 years, 11 months, 28 days old, passed away on November 9, 2023 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center in Ava, Missouri.Beulah was born November 12, 1934, in Bartonsville, Illinois. Her parents were Albert and Anna Mae (Barrett) Miller.
She was a Christian and member of Thornfield House of Prayer. Beulah was a lifetime member of the Ava VFW Post #5993 Auxiliary.
Beulah married Gale Fugate, Sr. on December 10, 1951, in Colchester, IL. Together they had four sons, Gale Fugate, Jr., Albert “Ted” Fugate, Don Fugate, and James Fugate. She later married Albert Duncan who also preceded her in death.
Beulah enjoyed horses and was known as a horse whisperer. She also loved reading her Bible. Beulah was a hard worker. She was retired custodian of the Western Illinois University College in Macomb, IL. When she moved to the Ava community, she did janitorial work in a hospital and nursing homes.
Beulah was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gale Fugate, Sr.; husband, Elbert Duncan; sons, James Elliott Fugate and Albert Ted Fugate; and step granddaughter, Brandy McCaulla.
Beulah is survived by sons Gale Fugate, Jr. and Don Fugate; grandchildren, Brandy Marie Fugate and Casey Jean Fugate; several step grand and great grandchildren; her brother, William “Bill” Miller; other extended relatives and friends.
Graveside services for Beulah will be Monday, November 13, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. in the Ava Cemetery. A Visitation will be prior to the service on Monday at 1:00 P.M. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava. Officiating will be Reverend Billy Miller.
