Bill F. Duckworth, 88 years, 8 months, and 12 days old, departed to Heaven on April 27, 2024, with his family and caregiver, Sami McCleary, by his side at his daughter’s, home in Ava, Missouri.
Bill was born on August 15, 1935 in Pond Fork, Missouri to Homer Louis and Elizabeth (Daves) Duckworth.
Bill lived most of his life in the Ava community. On March 9, 1953, Bill and Velma Davis were united in marriage in Mtn. Home, Arkansas, and to this union two daughters were born.
In 1956 Bill joined the United States Army and served his country with pride. Bill spent forty plus years in the Rock Quarry industry as a General Manager. In his spare time and retirement years he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing at their lake home in Shell Knob, Missouri, being active in the Ava American Legion Post 112, Ava Masonic Lodge #26, Shriners and playing Pitch at the Ava Senior Center. Bill accepted Christ at Black Oak Church and was baptized by Lawrence Applegate in 1976. He and Velma had attended the Ava General Baptist Church when able. Bill was fondly known as, “Bub” by his family and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife Velma; sister, Hazel McAllister and three brothers, Virgil, Norman, and infant brother, Claude Edward.
Bill is survived by his two daughters, Pamela Stout and husband Terry of Seymour, Missouri, and Valerie Stanton of Ava, Missouri; four grandchildren: Terra Hicks (Jason) of Seymour, Missouri, Kyle Wendland of Columbia, Missouri, Kael Jackson and fiancee’ Tawny Haynes of Kalispell, Montana,- CSL Comalapa El Salvador, and Devin Stanton of Ava, Missouri; as well as six great grandchildren; Maddox Hicks, Grayson Hicks, Davis Hicks, Preston Hicks, Taryn and Elias Haynes of Kalispell, MT; many nieces; nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
Graveside memorial service for Bill will be Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at the Goodhope Cemetery with full military honors by the Troy Herd American Legion Post 112 and U.S. Army detail. Officiating will be his family. Memorials may be made to the Local American Legion Post, Shriners Hospital or Goodhope Cemetery. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Homes, Ava, Missouri.
