Boyd Williams of Thayer, Missouri and Conroe, Texas passed away at his home in Conroe, Texas on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at the age of 79 years, 1 month and 11 days.
He was born at Mammoth Spring, Arkansas to Roland Boyd Williams and Cuba (Evans) Williams on February 27, 1941.
Boyd was united in marriage to Phyllis Reed on November 23, 1963 at Garfield Freewill Baptist Church in Couch, Missouri.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Williams of the family home; one daughter, Lana Hastings of Conroe, Texas; one granddaughter, Shelby Hastings and one grandson, Carter Hastings, both of Conroe, Texas; one brother, Dean Williams of Conway, Arkansas; a special brother-in-law, Roland Reed and wife, Sharyn of Gatewood, Missouri; many nieces and nephews; cousins; other relatives; and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Cuba Williams; one sister, Virginia DePriest; and grandparents, John and Rosa Williams and David and Sara Evans.
Boyd was a member of the Thayer Freewill Baptist Church for many years.
He was a graduate of Moler Barber School in St. Louis, Missouri. After serving an apprenticeship in West Plains, he owned and operated a barber shop in Thayer, Missouri for 18 years.
Boyd was a rancher for many years and was a truck driver for Hirsch Feed & Farm Supply.
He was an avid quail hunter and loved his special dog, Rex.
Boyd loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He will truly be missed by his family and all that knew him.
Graveside services for Boyd David Williams will be held Monday, April 13, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Thayer Cemetery in Thayer, Missouri with Brother Jarvis Reed officiating.
Burial will be in Thayer Cemetery in Thayer, Missouri with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home in Thayer, Missouri.
