Brooksie Neva Graves, 103 years, 7 months, and 24 days old, passed away on, May 20, 2023 in Columbia, MO at daughter Eunice Morrow’s Home.
Brooksie was born September 26, 1919 in Longrun, MO to John Thomas and Defsia Lee (Absher) Clayton, the 4th eldest of 10 children.
Brooksie spent most of her life in Ava, MO until 1998 when she and her daughter Darlene moved to Columbia, MO to be near daughter, Eunice where she remained until her death.
Brooksie is most known by her love of the many children that she cared for in and around Ava for over 30 years while their parents worked, who are all grown up now with families of their own.
Brooksie was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Clifford, Tilford, Troy, and Trellis Clayton; sisters, Roxie Roberts, Letha Brown, Lena Brown; sister-in-law, Lilliam Clayton, Elva Clayton, Lois Clayton, Freda Clayton; brother-in-laws, Ivan Roberts and Don Mudd.
Brooksie is survived by daughters, Eunice Morrow (Jim), Columbia, MO, Wilene Mills (Brian), Puyallup, WA, Darlene Naugle, Columbia, MO; grandsons, Alan and Bill Mills, Tacoma, WA, Ed Singleton (Lora), Columbia, MO; granddaughter, Ellen Sheker (Noah) Longmont, CO; great-granddaughters, Julian and Emily Singleton, Columbia, MO; sister, Lois Mudd, Richland, WA; brother, Rayford Clayton, Longrun, MO and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Brooksie will be at Clinkingbeard Chapel in Ava, Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will be Saturday, May 27, 2023 from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Burial will be in the Ava cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Rick Spacek.
