Burrell “David” Coonts, 79 of Cabool, MO passéd away on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023 at his home. He was born on Jan. 14, 1944 near Norwood, MO the son of Burrell Norman and Zella Mae (Dennis) Coonts. David was the oldest of six children raised in Buckhart in Douglas County, MO.
In David’s early years he worked as a logger and a truck driver; but truly found his calling as the proud owner of “Coonts Variety” in Cabool. He loved to “BS” with customers and visit with and tell stories. David also loved hunting, fishing, playing cards, going to the casino, traveling and site-seeing.
David was married to Mary Marlow in 1967 and to this union three children were born, Melissia “Missey”, Melinda and Bradley. In David’s later years he met Sue Davis, the love of his life; and they have shared the past 27 years together.
David was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Danny Joe, Donnie and Dean Coonts and a infant grandchild. He is survived by Sue Davis of Cabool; daughters, Missey and husband, Edwin Rogers of Cabool and Melinda Coonts of Cabool; son, Bradley Coonts and wife, Traci of Seymour; grandchildren, Ethan Rogers, Miranda Coen and husband, Austin, Kenton Coonts, Daniel Hutchenson, lil David, Alexis and Devon Coonts; great grandchildren, Easton, Carver and Bennette Coen; two sisters, Diann and Danny Smith and Darla and Jim Beltz; his two cats, Ralph and Buddy were his helpers in the Pawn Shop. David will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
