Carl K. Ice

Carl Kenneth Ice 84 of Cabool, Missouri passed away peacefully June 11th at Kabul Nursing home. He will be missed by friends and family for his love of gardening. He always planted an overabundance because he loved to share with everyone. His tomatoes were some of the best around. He enjoyed building and repairing things, always leaving his tools wherever he finished with them. Carl was most at home in the outdoors, he loved camping, fishing and taking float trips. He enjoyed a simple life on the farm, raising beef cattle; he loved to watch the calves running around, sometimes seeming like a new father himself.

Carl was born to Cloyd and Edith Harrison Ice on December 6, 1941, in Tyrone Missouri. Carl attended grade school at Tyrone, then transferred to Cabool School and graduated with the class of 1959. Soon after graduating he went to work for Honeycutt Chevrolet. It was there he met the love of his life, Judy Sullivan. They were married October 25th, 1963, and shared 61 ½ years together. They had two daughters, Sheri and Carletta. He then started working at Mid-America Dairy now known as DFA. He worked there 38 years before retiring in 1999, but not before earning the nickname of Rooster due to his red hair. He drove a school bus for Cabool Schools for a few years before settling into retirement.

And then there were his three grandsons: Andrew (Kimberly) Chronister who loved to fish and hunt with his Papa, Miles (Rachael) Bassett, who has taken up a love for farming and who gave Papa two beautiful great granddaughters (and a third great grand-baby on the way). He enjoyed watching videos and looking at pictures of Maddy Mae and Betty Jane. Kade Bassett, the youngest grandson, inherited his green thumb and love of the outdoors. Papa loved to hear about Kade’s travels and adventures around the world.
