Carl Ray Heverns

Carl Ray Heverns, age 58, passed away on December 24, 2021, at his home in Greenfield, Missouri. He was born to Walker Francis Heverns and Edith Viola (Barton) Heverns, on December 9, 1963, in Mountain View, Missouri.

He was united in marriage to Sherry J. Burks on June 16, 1990, in Arroll, Missouri. To this union, four children were born, Elizabeth, Sara, Amber, and Joseph.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Walker Heverns and Edith Heverns Gall; step-father, Curtis Owen Gall; grandparents; one brother, Denver Heverns (wife Cathy of Mountain View); one sister, Alice Kay Renegar Townsend; five nephews, Robert Hart, Ben Heverns, Michael “Mikey” Heverns, Travis Howell, and Kevin Howell; one niece, Jennifer Hart; three, brothers-in-law, Al Townsend, Gene Renegar, and Rodney Bill Hart; and several aunts and uncles.

Family to live with his memory are step-son, Johnson Cody Burks of Mountain View, MO; four children, Elizabeth Marie Heverns of Verona, MO, Sara Ellen Hurd and husband, Daytona of Greenfield, MO, Amber Rane Heverns of Springfield, MO, and Joseph Cameron Heverns of Verona, MO; ex-wife, Sherry J. Burks of Verona, MO; three sisters, Audra Hart, Evelyn “Ebbie” Weisbrod, Norma Howell and husband, Mike; two brothers, Roy Heverns and wife, Kathy, and Richard “Dean” Heverns; and his heart full of love, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Carl loved riding four-wheelers, hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He enjoyed spending time with family and was especially fond of his time spent working with Gene and Wayne Renegar in the salvage yard. He was very proud of his time driving a dump truck for Doss and Harper Quarry.

He retired to Greenfield to be near his children, where he enjoyed fishing, barbecuing, and watching sunsets at the lake. He shared a passion for working on cars with his son, Joe, and would help anyone in need.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 31, 2021, at Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View, Missouri, with Stan Murphy officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30-11:00 a.m., also at the funeral home. Interment will be in Rader Cemetery, Eminence, Missouri.
