Carl (Sonny) William Pasley, 92 passed away on Feb 27, 2025, to spend eternal life with his Heavenly Father and Norma, the love of his life. Carl was born on January 28, 1933, in Americus, Missouri to Carl Henry and Clara (VanBooven) Pasley. He was a devout Catholic and the only son of six siblings: Mary Altenbach, Gerry Smith, Clara Mae Baker, Marcella Pasley and Helen Gaston. Shortly after graduating from Mokane High School, he joined the Army, where he served his country for 28 years as a medic/nurse. He completed tours in Korea, Vietnam, Germany, and was part of the Big Red One. At the time of his service, he was one of the youngest to obtain the rank of Command Sergeant Major. He received several honors during his service including 2 Bronze stars, the Expert Field Medical Badge, the Meritorious Service Medal and 6 Good Conduct Medals. Just after Carl joined the service, he married Norma Lucille (Martin) Pasley. They spent 62 years together until her passing in 2020. They raised four children: Dennis (Tami) Pasley, Brenda Pasley Wilson, Dianna (Nancy) Pasley, and Pamela (George) Pasley Albert. In his younger days he enjoyed hunting, golfing, and fast pitch softball. After his retirement from the Army, he and Norma moved to Edgar Springs, Missouri where he raised cattle and drove a school bus for the local school district. There he enjoyed having Border Collies, cutting his grass and watching sports on TV. He was a member of the VFW, Lion’s Club, and St John Catholic Mission Church. Carl was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Norma; daughter, Brenda; and siblings, Mary, Gerry, Clara Mae, and Marcella. He is survived by his sister, Helen; children, Dennis, Dianna, and Pamela; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He will be lovingly missed by his family and friends.
