Carola Brumley

Carola Jean Brumley, daughter of the late Jerrel R. Starr and Doris M. (Stanford) Starr, was born October 27, 1942, in Altus, Oklahoma. She passed away on April 29, 2023, at her home in Mountain Grove, Missouri. She was 80 years, 6 months, and 2 days of age.

Carola and her parents moved to Bakersfield, California, in 1943. She attended Beardsley and Panama Grade Schools, her freshman year at Bakersfield High and graduated from South High in 1960.

Carola’s first job was babysitting for neighbor’s children, which she enjoyed very much. After graduating she worked for Woolworths as a clerk, as a salesperson for two different dress shops, and finally for Pacific Telephone as a Service Rep and Manager.

At Pacific Telephone she met and fell in love with Lindell Brumley and they were married February 18, 1988. They retired and moved from the Bay area to Mountain Grove, Missouri, in March of 1993. They both loved living in the Ozarks very much.

Carola loved traveling, gardening, her home, all her dogs, cats, cows and most of all Lindell. They had a great life together.

Survivors include Carola’s sister, Sharon L. Starr, niece, Errin M. Snowder, nephews, Sean D. Snowder, and Jesse R. Johnson, and great nephew, Michael L. Saladin. Lindell also shared his two daughters, Linda Johnson and Lori Pierce and her husband, Tim, as well as their two daughters, Meghan Smith and Molly Engerer with Carola. He also shared great grandchildren, Stephen Curtis, Charley Rae Smith, Emma Jane Smith and Easton Engerer. Carola loved them all as her own.
