Charles Wayne Hamilton, 78 of Cabool, MO departed this life on March 2, 2023 at the Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, MO. He was born on March 9, 1944 in Cabool, MO the youngest son of Herbert David and Nova Faye (Lewis) Hamilton.
Charles graduated from Cabool High School on May 22, 1954, soon after he traveled to Homestead, FL and attended Heavy Equipment Operator School. He then returned to Cabool where he had various jobs operating heavy equipment and he also worked with his dad logging and running the sawmill on the family farm.
In March of 1968 he completed training in Colorado Springs with the US Army and was sent to Vietnam. This tour would last until March 12, 1970; these two years of his life he talked about often. He received a Bronze Star, Silver Star, Republic of Vietnam Service, Cold War Service, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Distinguished Service Citation, National Defense Service and the Good Conduct Medal Citation.
Charles was united in marriage to June Eaton and to this union one daughter was born, SeLinda Dawn. He loved his family and spending time with them; hunting and fishing were two of his favorite things to do. He enjoyed feeding the catfish in the pond just to catch and weigh them to see how much they had gained. He enjoyed the outdoors, whether it be working in the garden/yard, walking in the woods or just relaxing on the porch on a nice day.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; as infant sister, Nova Faye and two brothers, Kenneth Dale and Herbert Dean Hamilton. He is survived by his daughter, SeLinda Hoots and husband, Jeremy; grandson, Quinton Coble and wife, Mariah; great grandchildren, Emberly, Cashton and Waylon Coble; brothers, Neil Hamilton and wife, Beth and Jim Hamilton all of Cabool; sisters, Medora Hunter of Cabool and Fayetta Pendergrass and husband, Bob of West Plains; as well as many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
