Dane (as everyone called him) was drafted into the Army while living in Chicago in May of 1964.  Dane spent most of his time while serving in the Army stationed in Germany.  When the Vietnam war started and the Army had been put on alert, he was packed and ready to go.  When it was his time to report he was asked what he was doing there, he said “going to Vietnam sir” to which the commander replied, “no you are not, get out of here, you only have one month left before being discharged.”  Needless to say, he wasted no time leaving there.  He was then honorably discharged in May of 1966.

After making his way back to Chicago, he immediately left there to come back to Shannon County where he lived for a while with his Uncle Brom and Aunt Penny Burnett.  He got a job with Spurgin Lumber helping to build houses.  While working at the Eminence High School he happened to see a gal that he just had to meet and thought I’m going to marry her and on December 3, 1971 he was married to Connie Dreasler.  Life was good!

In later years, Dane worked for the park service.  He broke his back over the 4th of July weekend in 1998.  From then on he was unable to work as the doctors were afraid to operate for fear it would make it worse.

Dane loved to hunt and fish, especially with his partner Tommy Jo Counts.  Several years went by until he was no longer able to enjoy the outdoors.  Dane’s health slowly deteriorated, but he always had lunch and supper fixed for Connie, he continued to spoil her.  Dane was an excellent cook and could cook anything, especially homemade bread.

On March 9th, 1981, they welcomed a son, Dwight Dane who preceded him in death along with his parents, Art and Lily; father and mother-in-law, Jim and Ethel Dreasler; brothers, Jim, Mack, Clifford and John along with 1 sister Carole, 3 sisters-in-law, 4 brothers-in-law, 1 nephew and 1 niece.

Dane is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Connie of the home; one brother, Tom Holland of Mountain View; a grandson Zach of Eminence, Missouri; a granddaughter; 4 sisters-in-law, Betty Holland of Mountain View, Barbara Holland of Illinois, Lucille Jaster and Deloris Pierce both of Eminence.  He also leaves many nieces, nephews other family members and friends.

Dane was loved by many and will be missed tremendously.  Life brings tears, smiles and memories.  The tears dry, the smiles fade but the memories last forever!

Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Bradford Funeral Home with Pastor Alan Stringer officiating.  Interment with Military Honors was in the Munsell Cemetery at Eminence.  Services were under the care of Bradford Funeral Home and online condolences may be left at www.bradfordfuneralhome.net
