Dakota Gabriel Coats was born in West Plains, Missouri on December 23, 1994 to David Ray Coats and Jacqueline Dawn Coats and went to be with Jesus on September 12, 2021 at his family home.
He is survived by his mother and father; two brothers, Sequoyah Coats and Montana Coats, both of Pomona, Missouri; one sister, Kiawa Coats and husband David Sloniker, Pomona, Missouri; three nephews, Austin Sloniker, Jaxon Sloniker, and Elijah Sloniker, all of Pomona, Missouri; two nieces, Adilynn Sloniker, West Plains, Missouri, and Ember Sloniker, Pomona, Missouri; grandparents, Charles and Dianne Coats, West Plains, Missouri; three aunts, Teresa Deems and Tim Danielson, Des Moines, Iowa, Shawna Fillmore and Craig Corbett, Promise City, Iowa, and Rachel Albin and husband Trent, and cousins, Brynlee Albin and Avery Albin, Nixa, Missouri; one uncle, Christopher Coats; cousins, Chaz Coats and Carstyn Coats, West Plains, Missouri, and several other cousins, great aunts, uncles and friends, that he loved dearly.
He is preceded in death by his great grandfather, Roy Neal Coats; great grandmother, Anita Coats; great grandmother, Mary Lue Oaks; great grandfather, Rufus Rhine; grandmother, Jackie Rhine; grandfather, Billy Leatherwood, and Aunt Nancy Wheat.
Dakota enjoyed hunting and fishing, camping, bushcraft, and being outdoors. He loved animals of all kinds, especially his favorite two dogs, Butterball and Ruby whom he loved dearly. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and playing Fortnite with his nephews, Jaxson and Austin Sloniker, cousin Amy Wheat, and best friend, Jim Calhoun Jr. He was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel, West Plains, Missouri, with Minister Robb Cox officiating, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home Inc., West Plains.
Body will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. to time of service, Sunday, September 19, 2021.
Burial will be in New Liberty Cemetery, Howell County, Missouri, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., West Plains.
