David “Dave” Leon Ratliff, 81, was born on February 20, 1943, in Ellington, Missouri, to the late Marvin and Alma (Miner) Ratliff. Dave passed away on January 27, 2025, at his home in Eminence, Missouri.
Dave was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and country drives. Known by many as “Ranger Dave” or “The Weatherman”, Dave served as an Ozark National Scenic Riverways Law Enforcement Park Ranger for over 20 years. He served as a Photographer’s Mate in the United States Navy from 1962 until 1966 and spent much of that time on the USS Shangri-La. Dave was a caring family man who passed his love for the outdoors to his children. He loved talking to people and sharing stories or jokes. He will be missed by many.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, John and Jerry Ratliff; sister, Helen Bernadine; and wife, Rosemary Ratliff.
Survivors include his two sons, Jaron “J.D.” (Ashley) Ratliff and Theron “T.J.” Ratliff; brother, Don (Patricia) Ratliff; and sisters, Betty Lou Johnson and Barbara Mathews; along with numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
