Today, we gather to honor the life of David Skaggs, a man whose legacy will stay in the hearts of everyone who knew him. David was a devoted husband to Stevie Skaggs, a loving father to his two sons, Michael Stewart and Wynston Skaggs and a grandfather to five grandchildren, with a sixth on the way. He always tried his best to make it to all his grandchildren’s events, whether it be a game or a school event. His family was his world and he poured his heart into them every single day (he wouldn’t admit to that if you asked him though).
David spent four years working for Arkansas Electric and an additional thirty years with Cabool Tire. His commitment to his work was a reflection of his character. His coworkers and friends knew him as someone they could always count on, and a good friend. David told everyone that he was a Jack of all trades, but a master of none. His favorite place in the world was being on the lake with his best friend, the love of his life, Stevie Skaggs. He loved fishing, gigging, hunting, and camping. David took his dogs everywhere with him and loved them more than the world.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Carline Browne; father-n-law, David Freed; brother-n-law, Dennis Skaggs and nephew, Dustin Skaggs. He is survived by the love of his life and best friend, Stevie Skaggs; two sons, Michael and wife, Spencer Stewart of Mt. Grove and Wynston Skaggs and girlfriend, Adrian Fleetwood of Cabool; two brothers, Danny and wife, Patty Skaggs and Ted and wife, Christy of Cabool; a brother from another mother, Randy and wife, Marlene Hale of Fair Grove, MO; three sisters, Debra and husband, Evertt Leighty, Crystal Browne of Cabool and JoAnna and husband, Lewis Hill of Mt. Grove; six grandkids, Becca and Kelly Metheney, Auna Freeman, Dylan and Keatyn Stewart of Mt. Grove and Wynona Skaggs of Cabool; great granddaughter, Renley Russell of Mt. Grove; The God father and the BEST UNCLE to Clinton and wife, Cassandra Stewart, Lacy and husband, Ryan Sigman, Ethan and wife, Kaila Skaggs all of Cabool, Danny and wife, Jackie Skaggs of Deland, FL, Monika and Lindsay Hale of Fair Grove, MO, Devin, Mark Browne and family of Cabool and Tera Skaggs and family of Houston. He will be missed by several nieces, nephews, close friends and neighbors that became family over the years. He was much loved and respected and will be greatly missed by all. Though we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the impact he had on all of our lives
