Dean Gregory Rawlins

Dean Gregory Rawlins, 70 years, 2 months, 5 days old, passed away on January 12, 2023 at his home with family by his side.

Dean was born November 7, 1952 in Windsor, Canada to Lorne Westlake and Ida (Mellon) Rawlins.

He served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

On April 7, 2001 Dean and Christine Diane Tunnell were united in marriage in Arkansas. He was retired from working at Copeland for 10 years and previously had worked at Emerson for 2 years in Ava.

He enjoyed working on vehicles, woodworking and carpentry and most of all spending time with his family. His family called him, “Poppy”.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Lorne; and a grandson, Aundre Rawlins.

Dean is survived by his wife, Christine; children, Gregory Rawlins, Lori Ann LaPointe, Heather Lewis, Wendy Evans and Daniel Evans; brother, Keith Rawlins; sister Harriet Burmania; brother-in-law, Henry Brummel; nephew, Ulysses Brummel; several grandchildren; two great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life for Dean will be Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with military honors at the chapel by the Troy Herd American Legion and U.S. Navy. Dean’s wishes were to be cremated.  Officiating will be Chaplain, Brent Crosswhite. Memorials may be made to any Veteran’s organization of donor’s choice.
