Debra died in her home on December 2nd,2023 at 12:10 am, surrounded by family. She was born on September 2nd. 1956 in Lawrence, Kansas to Loyd Leland and Annave (Nance) Loftis. She graduated from Gainesville High School in l974 and lived most of her life in Ozark County, Missouri. Debra treasured her family more than anything! She put her kids and family before herself, raising five children on her own. She went back to school after having her fifth child and completed her bachelor’s degree at College of the Ozarks. She worked for the Missouri Department of Social Services, retiring in 2022 after 25 years of service.
Debra bragged. Never about her own hard work or accomplishments, but she took every opportunity to brag on her children, stepchildren, grandchildren and great-grandchild. She went to every sporting event, concert or other activity and loved her children’s teammates and friends as if they were her own. She loved me more! She enjoyed fishing, reading, and watching sci-fi, all with an ice-cold Dr. Pepper in hand. She could feed a house-full of kids with ease, rarely used a recipe, and could make something truly delicious out of anything she had on hand. She also loved a good bargain, enjoying spending hours going to yard sales, and frequently shared her finds with family and friends.
Debra is survived by her aunt Barbara Loftis; uncle Larry Loftis; brother Leslie Loftis; three sons and two daughters, John and Alicia Adams, Brandon and Alex Adams, Robert and Danielle Hogue, Tamara Hogue and Darrell Kelley, and Larissa and Shawn Benedict; grandchildren Cheyanne and Keith Kroll, Wesley McCullough, Leland Adams, Thatcher Adams, Kaia Adams, Kaleb Kelley, Dakota Bishop, Lindsey Kelley, Kobi Adams and Skylar Bishop; great-grandchild Ruger McCullough; step-children Charley and Brooke Hogue, Christal and Willie Curtis, and Wayne Hogue; and many other family and friends.
ln lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Loftis Cemetery.
