Delores Ann Crain, 88 years, 7 months, 14 days old, passed to her Heavenly home on October 8, 2024 with her family by her side. Delores had fought a courageous battle with cancer.
Delores was born February 25, 1936, in Hoffman, Oklahoma, to George and Olive (Phillips) Selvidge.
Delores graduated from Henryetta High School in Oklahoma and then from St. John’s School of Nursing in Springfield. She later worked at Chastain’s Nursing Home (Heart of the Ozarks), the Douglas County Health Department as a home health nurse, and then as a pharmacy technician at Ava Drug.
On February 28, 1969, Delores and Robert W. “Bob” Crain were united in marriage in Henryetta, Oklahoma. Together they had one daughter, Leigh Ann.
She was an avid golfer throughout her life and enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. Some of the best times of her life were spent playing golf with Bob and her beloved friends, Lou and Doris Prince. Delores volunteered at Heart of the Hills Food Harvest and was an active member of the Ava Methodist Church.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; sisters, Billye Jean Donnelly, Dorothy Martin, Martha Jones, and Georgia Kelly.
Delores is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Leigh and Randy Heriford; grandchildren and their spouses, Adam and Anna Heriford, Cody Heriford, and Olivia and Zack Miller; great grandchildren, Canon and Carsyn Heriford, Nora Heriford, and Lucas Call; several nieces; nephews; and dear friends and wonderful church family.
Memorial/Visitation Celebration of Life for Delores will be Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at the Ava Methodist Church, Ava, MO with a private burial of her urn in the Ava Cemetery. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
