Delpha Jewelene Simpson

Delpha Jewelene (Stogsdill) Simpson was born on July 28, 1926 in Couch, Missouri, the daughter of Walker and Mittie (Dodson) Stogsdill, and departed this life on April 13, 2022 at her home in Thayer, Missouri surrounded by her children at the age of 95 years.

She was united in marriage on September 11, 1945 to Edwin Simpson.

Jewelene is survived by two children, Larry Simpson and wife Rosie, and Lana Waits and husband Kenneth; three grandchildren, Robert Simpson (Melody), Matt Simpson (Rhonda), and Misty Goetting Zabarac, all of Thayer, Missouri; two step-granddaughters, Nocana Runt (Paul) and Lisa Richardson; seven great grandchildren, Teanna Simpson, Shelby Long (Ryan), Colton Goetting (Beth), Cody Goetting (Jenna), Cameron Goetting (Sahara), Dustin Howell (Cameron), and Dalton Howell (Cheyenne); seven great great grandchildren; one sister, Davie Scott; one brother-in-law Bill Felts; numerous nephews and nieces; other relatives; and many friends.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mittie Stogsdill; one sister, Beatrice Felts; and one grandson, Roy Goetting.

Jewelene leaves behind her church family from Thayer Free Will Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School secretary for many years.  Everyone who knew her loved her.  She was of the Free Will Baptist faith.

She went to work right out of high school and worked at the garment factory for 30 plus years until she retired in 1988.  Jewelene also worked at the Ration Board office in Alton during World War II.

Jewelene liked to cook any kind of food especially for family or church gatherings.  She also liked to work in her yard and raised beautiful flowers.  Jewelene especially enjoyed the many years with her Quilting Sisters in Christ.

She will truly be missed by her family and many friends.

Funeral services for Delpha Jewelene Simpson will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer, Missouri with Brother Todd Williams and Brother Richard Robinson officiating.

The family with receive friends on Saturday, April 16, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to service time at Carter Funeral Home in Thayer, Missouri.

Burial will be held on Friday, April 16, 2022 in Thayer Cemetery in Thayer, Missouri with services are under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. in Thayer, Missouri.
