Dirk de Haan

Dirk de Haan, 84 years, 10 months, and 17 days old, passed away on, January 8, 2022 at his home with family by his side.

Dirk was born February 22, 1937 in Yucaipa, California to Wiebe and Hendrika Caterina (DeJong) de Haan.

Dirk married Dodie King on July 26, 1954 in Las Vegas, NV.  They were childhood friends.  They started their family in Yucaipa, CA.

Dirk was a Christian and a member of the Jimmy Swaggart Family Worship Center.

In 1970 the family sold everything they owned, loaded up in a pickup truck with a camper and set out for new horizons.  They settled in Ashflat, Arkansas until 1975 and moved to Oldfield, Missouri.  In 1984, Dirk and Dodie moved to Barstow, California.  During their time there they saved and blessed many lifes through a prison freedom ministry walk.  They dedicated their love in word and song faithfully.

In December 2000, they moved back to Ava, Missouri, where they spent the remainder of their life, enjoying and loving their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Dirk enjoyed working in the yard, farming and riding horses.  He enjoyed working and loved his family. He really liked to play the guitar.

Dirk was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dodie; his son, Larry de Haan; one grandson; two great-granddaughters and a sister, Jeltje Nelson.

Dirk is survived by his three children and their spouses, Connie and John Macak, Springfield, MO, Rick and Nicole de Haan, Ava , MO, and Karen and Steve Clevenger, Ava, MO; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson; brother, Andres de Haan; sister, Elizabeth Parker and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Dirk will be Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Homes, Inc, Ava, Missouri. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 P.M. to service time.  Burial will be in the Hall Cemetery on T Hwy in Oldfield, MO with full military honors.  Officiating will be Chaplain Jeff Baird.  Memorials may be made to Hall Cemetery.
