Doris worked for Rawlings Sporting Goods in Licking, MO for 28 ½ years before becoming disabled and unable to work. She loved animals and nature, especially her hummingbirds. When she was young, she wanted to be a veterinarian but never pursued it as a career. When she was married to Robert, they raised registered dairy goats (Swiss Bells Ranch), rabbits, various kinds of poultry, dogs, cats, pigs, and a few other animals. Doris also enjoyed her flowers and gardening along with reading the bible and studies. You could say she believed in every denomination.

In 2021, she went to live in Houston House nursing home in Houston, MO. Living there she would highly recommend a room with patio doors so she could feed several kinds of birds, squirrels, grow 2 tomato plants, flowers, and watch her wind spinners. Being a 4’9” red head, Doris could be a stubborn, demanding person but she was still loved by many people. Doris will be missed very much by those who knew her.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Robert Huff; and brother and his wife, Jesse and Mae Jett.

She is survived by her husband, Ronnie Dixon of Licking, MO; daughter, Velvet Lewis and husband James of Houston, MO; son, Gary Huff and wife Kaddy of West Plains, MO; brothers, George Jett, Jr. and wife Alice of Mountain Grove, MO and Lee Jett and wife Salina of Nashville, Il; seven grandchildren, Connie Chris, Stephanie, Jonathan, Thomas, Kaytlynn, and Jaycee; two step grandchildren, Elizabeth and Bobby; seven great grandchildren; five nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
