Doris Gene Godwin

Doris Gene Godwin, age 93, of Salem died October 6, at Fulton County Hospital of natural causes. He was born at Peace Valley, the second son of Carey Godwin and wife Arlie Mooney Godwin. Doris was predeceased by three sons, Frank, Weston, and Carey Dave Godwin; two brothers, Donald and John Godwin; and his parents. 

Doris is survived by his wife of twenty-three years, Helen, of the home; brother Jim Godwin of Ash Flat, Arkansas; granddaughters Jessica Godwin and Meaghan Beliz of Ephrata, Washington; great grandson Ethan Darling, great granddaughters Destiny Gonzalas and Nakaya Beliz; and two great great grandsons, Jay and Luka Gonzalas.

Doris spent most of his working years in Washinton State; finally retiring as foreman of a 160-acre apple orchard in Wenatchee. Washington State is where he raised his family. He was baptized as a young adult man in Washington State and become a fellow member of the Church of Christ, joining several beloved relatives in that congregation. 

Doris returned home to Arkansas in 1993 to enjoy many years hunting, fishing, and visiting around with his brothers Donald and Jim. 

Honorary pallbearers are nieces and nephews, Gwenda Godwin, Donna York, Jimmie Gale Godwin and Mike Godwin. 

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas with Bro. Randy Cavender officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until time of service on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas. The interment will be Wednesday, October 9, 2024, in the Agnos Cemetery in Agnos, Arkansas. Memorials may be made to the Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
