Doris Mae Campbell Sweet, age 89, of Cotter, Arkansas passed away January 18, 2023 at Baxter Regional Hospital, Mountain Home, surrounded by her loving family. Doris was born on November 1, 1933 to Ralph and Ales Raney Campbell in Macomb, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Sweet on December 22, 1954.
Doris lived in Missouri for many years before moving to Norfork, Arkansas. Her first job was as a waitress at the Dew Drop Restaurant in Mountain Grove, Missouri. After her marriage, she was a homemaker and “jack of all trades.” Doris milked cows, tended chickens, did gardening, and baked bread. She was a great cook. When her seven children were young, Doris did laundry with a wringer washing machine and hung her clothes on a clothesline no matter the weather. She also enjoyed sewing and doing embroidery. Doris almost always had a smile on her face. She loved her family with all her heart. Doris attended Galatia Assembly of God Church in Norfork for many years.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a daughter, Teresa Baumgardner; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Sweet; a son-in-law, Denver Baumgardner; brothers, Paul Campbell, Donald Campbell and L.T. Campbell; a grandson, Jimmy Sweet; great grandsons, Cooper Sweet and Daniel Gilpin and a great great granddaughter, Elaya Sweet. She is survived by two daughters, Thelma (Danny) Gilpin, Lohman, Missouri and Rita (Bob) Dover, Mountain Home, Arkansas; four sons, Lloyd E. (Stacy) Sweet, Vienna, Missouri; Ronald (Patricia) Sweet, Mountain Home, Arkansas; Gary Sweet, Potosi, Missouri; and, Roger Sweet, Cotter, Arkansas; a sister, Bertha Lorntz, Bryan, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Maude Campbell, Mountain Grove, Missouri; 25 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family that loved her dearly.
