Dortha Crain

Dortha Louise Crain, daughter of Clyde Pettigrew and Zorabel (Hickman) Pettigrew, was born April 5, 1934, in Colbran, Colorado and departed this life November 28, 2023, at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 89 years, 7 months, and days.

On June 1, 1956, she was united in marriage to John Claude Crain.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John, daughter and son-in-law, Leta and Ronnie Page, grandson, Larry Livingston, Jr., brother, David Pettigrew, sister, Pat Rush, and daughter-in-law, Debbie Crain.

Dortha is survived by 3 sons, Merle Crain and wife, Sandy, of Hartville, Missouri, Rocky Crain and Donna Sparnicht, Brent Crain and wife, Margaret, all of Mansfield, Missouri; 3 daughters, Lynette Milford and husband, Eldon, of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, Martha Matney and husband, Albert, of Mansfield, Missouri, and Golda Johnston of Norwood, Missouri; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; 5 sisters, Ellen Ford, Rosie Hiner, and Bobbie Hatcher all of Grand Junction, Colorado, Diana Blair and Kathy Livingston, both of Whitewater, Colorado; other relatives and many friends.

She was born and raised in Colorado, where she met and married John. They moved to Arkansas and then to Missouri in 1967. She and John owned and operated a restaurant in Mansfield for several years, had worked at Ken Ballew Hatchery, H.D. Lee Factory in Seymour, Hagle Industries in Ava, and Mimosa Restaurant for many years.

In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, trout fishing, flowers and being on the truck with John.

Dortha was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and a caring neighbor and friend. We have many wonderful memories that we will always cherish.
