Douglas Anthony McLaughlin, 89 years, departed this life and went to his Heavenly home on December 16, 2024.
Doug was born June 23, 1935, in San Pablo, California, to Edward and Nellie (Cahill) McLaughlin.
He was the youngest of five siblings, who preceded him in death.
He was a Veteran and served his country with the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1960.
Doug was happily married to his beloved wife, Elda, for many years, and she preceded him in death.
Doug was proud of his Irish heritage and his employment and retirement from the Southern Pacific Railroad as an Engineer.
Doug enjoyed politics, watching Fox News, good food, and visiting with friends and loved ones. The special light of his life was his granddaughter, Brenna, whom he affectionately called the “Cake”. He taught her the “Patty Cake” song, and his favorite title in life was “Papa Doug”. In his latter years, he rededicated his life to the Lord.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his siblings.
He is survived by his granddaughter, Brenna Stepp; close family friends, Dalene Robertson, and Carla Dobbs; other family and friends.
Graveside services for Doug will be Friday, December 20, 2024, at 1:00 P.M., at the Ava Cemetery, Ava, Missouri. Officiating will be Pastor “Butch” McCleary.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, www.t2t.org or a veterans charity of choice. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
