Even after hanging up the helmet, he spent many weekends watching his two sons race and share his passion for the competition. Gene also looked forward to his yearly hunting and fishing trips. Whether it was rabbit hunting with family in northern Missouri, white bass fishing with family and friends in southern Missouri, or going to deer camp right here at home, he loved every minute of it.
