Doyle Turner, 81, of Thornfield, MO, was born to Lee Lemuel and Vivian LaVerne Turner on August 27, 1942, in Port Arthur, Texas.
He died peacefully at his home in Thornfield, Missouri of kidney failure, on May 21, 2024.
Doyle spent his early life and working years in California. It was in California that he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology and Abnormal Psychology from California State University in Fresno. He later earned his master’s in public administration with a specialization in Law and Judicial Administration from the University of Southern California. Doyle also obtained a Life Community College teaching credential.
Doyle lived a full active career in law enforcement of over 30 years, starting with the California highway patrol as a traffic officer in Los Angeles and culminating with the State of California, Department of Justice as a special agent, specializing in narcotic enforcement and methamphetamine eradication. His knowledge and experience in the later area earned him expertise in both state and federal courts. Upon retirement, armed with his experience and expertise he embarked on the first of its kind training and educational program addressing the hazards of drugs and methamphetamine for Native American communities that lasted a decade. During his tenure he provided counseling and training regarding drug court systems, health to wellness courts and tribal intervention/collaborative programs to several hundred native Americans which honored his heritage.
In 2017 Doyle moved to Thornfield with his wife of fifty years to enjoy the lake, fishing, and building friendships. The atmosphere allowed him to finish his book “The Last Deal” which highlighted his most notable cases.
He is survived by his loving wife Sharon of 57 years, daughter Kelli Hayward of Huntington Beach, CA, son Lee Turner of Claris, CA and six beautiful grandchildren.
Doyle was proceeded in death by both his parents.
