Dr. David Lewis King

Dr. David Lewis King, 75, of St. Robert, Missouri went to his heavenly home on the morning of July 11, 2020. Born on January 22, 1945 in Springfield, Missouri, he was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Jane King and his older brother, Jack King.

David was united in marriage to Sharon Elaine Elam on August 30, 1986 at the First Baptist Church in Mountain View, Missouri. David is survived by his loving and caring wife of 33 years, Sharon, and his four daughters, Lanée (Jeff) Hasenkamp of St. Louis, MO, Melanie (Geoff) King of Cleveland, OH, Kristina (Tom) Faber of Kenosha, WI, and Megan (Adam) Ashwell of Falls Church, VA.

David was a devoted grandfather of his four grandchildren, Parker, Cooper, Addie and Amelia along with many grand-animals from his daughters. David enjoyed traveling to see his daughters and grandchildren any chance he got in his later years. His grandchildren were truly the light in his world and he cherished the time he got to spend with the four of them. David also enjoyed the great outdoors and loved to fish.

David was the first in his family to pursue advanced higher education, earning a Doctorate in Education from the University of Missouri, Columbia. During his 30+ years in education, David was an active leader, educator, and mentor to many. One of his last adventures was a trip to Wisconsin to visit his daughter, where he enjoyed his first boat ride out on Lake Michigan during the 4th of July weekend. He was making plans to come back for a guided fishing trip later in the year.

A public visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2020, from 5:30pm – 8:00pm at Yarber Mortuary in Mountain View, Missouri. A private interment will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery in Mountain View, Missouri on Friday, July 17, 2020. Contributions may be made in memory of David to the American Diabetes Association. Condolences may be expressed in person during the visitation service or at www.yarbermortuary.com.
