Duane “Slick” Keith McCartney, age 77, was born on March 3, 1947, in St. Louis, MO to Dale Leo McCartney and Joyce Evelyn (Rowen) McCartney. He passed away on October 22, 2024, in Springfield, MO.
Duane worked most of his life as a truck driver, which he truly enjoyed. He also loved stock car racing and watching wrestling and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Duane is preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Evelyn; son, Bryan Keith McCartney; sister, Joyce England; brother, Gary McCartney; and brother-in-law, Leroy Alcorn.
He is survived by his significant other, Vicki Lay; grandson, Drew Keith McCartney; siblings, Anita Alcorn, Nola (Steve) Cochran, Mary (Jim) Odle, Michael (Peggi) McCartney and Danny (Wendy) McCartney; sister-in-law, Joyce McCartney; brother-in-law, Jerry England; and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Duane will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Boone Creek Cemetery in memory of Duane.
