Edith was born December 4, 1930, in Ripley County, MO, to the late Clifford and Verna (Kennon) Milum. On April 29, 1950, Edith married Joe Rush who preceded her in death in 1997. Edith was a blessing to the Doniphan Community. She taught in Ripley County Schools for 60 years, serving as a substitute teacher after her retirement. “Mrs. Rush” made learning fun and engaging for her students. Her dedication to education earned her the title of “Favorite Teacher” from many of her students. Her love of learning and engaging students extended beyond the classroom, as she also taught Sunday School at Doniphan Church of Christ, where she nurtured the faith and knowledge of her students. Edith had a green thumb and loved gardening. She grew a variety of plants, filling her home and garden with beauty. Her generous spirit shone through as she shared her joy of the outdoors and gardening by gifting starter plants to family, friends, and neighbors, helping them enrich their own gardens and flower beds. Edith was known for her work ethic and was always the first to roll up her sleeves and do whatever needed to be done. She made 1,000s of meals for others throughout her life. To fill up her “free” time, she handstitched quilts and kept a closet full of them ready to give away to anyone in need. There was no mess too big and no job too hard in her mind. This trait lives on in her children and grandchildren. Edith’s legacy of kindness, teaching, and love will live on in the many lives she touched.

Surviving is her daughter, Carol (Dr. Les) Lamoureux of Branson West, MO; and daughter-in-law, Marilyn Rush of Doniphan; grandchildren, Phillip (Caitlin) Lamoureux of Doniphan, Amy (Dustin) Braschler, also of Doniphan, Lori (Paul) Adell of Sikeston, MO, Lindsey (Ryan) Schlief of Dexter, and Logan (Mackenzie) Rush of Clever, MO; great-grandchildren, Audrey Braschler, Kadison, Kambry, and Kennon Adell, Rylin Jo, Rivers, and Ridge Schlief, Colby, Ella, and Avery Rush.
