Emmett Patterson

 

Emmett Patterson, a longtime resident of Willow Springs, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020 while at his home.  He was born November 29, 1941 to Jesie and Missouri (Parrott) Patterson in Texas County, near Willow Springs. He was 78 years old.

Emmett attended the local schools, graduating from Willow Springs High School with the class of 1960. Emmett was highly active in track as a pole vaulter. He lettered each year from the 8th grade through his Senior year; he also competed at the state level a couple of years. He was employed as a general laborer for Leggett and Platt for 4 years. He later drove a truck for J.B. Hunt Co. for 3 years, then went to work for Smith Flooring in Mtn. View for 10 years. Emmett was a quiet, unassuming man who preferred to be alone. He enjoyed reading Louis L’Amour books and watching television. His loved cats and his favorite TV programs were shows about animals. He also liked to watch the Tour de France, sprint car racing and late model car racing. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Emmett is preceded in death by his parents; his ex-wife, Jackie; his siblings: Evelyn, Jessie Mae, Ella, Carl, Roy, Don and Ben.

He is survived by his son, Sean Patterson of Willow Springs.
