Esther Huddleston

Esther Elizabeth (Pierce) Huddleston was born on January 21, 1925 in Thomasville, Missouri to Walter and Myrtie Pierce. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on January 23, 2025, just two days after her 100th birthday.

Esther married Edward (Bill) Huddleston in March of 1942. Together, they welcomed two children into the world, James (Jim) Edward and Elizabeth Ann. They raised their children in Thomasville, Missouri and then moved to Alton where Esther began working for Doctor Vera Carhart in the late 1960’s where she worked until retirement. Esther loved to be outside. You could almost always find her on her walks around town, tending to her garden, or waiting for the church bus every Sunday and Wednesday.

Her husband, Bill; her parents, Walter and Myrtie; eight sisters, Pauline, Stella, Beulah, Lorene, Gertrude, Bonnie, Bernice and Eloise; and her six brothers, Ben, Paul, Eugene, Edgar, John and Elvin preceded her in death.

She is survived by two children, Jim and wife Susan, Ann and husband Ron, and a very special nephew who was like a son, Roger and wife Kathy. 6 grandchildren, Kerri (Clint) Freeman, Stephanie (Norman) Hollis, Kent (Dena) Huddleston, Chris (Stefanie) Clark, Sammy (Jessica) Huddleston, and Seth (Suzanne) Huddleston. 13 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Monday, January 27, 2025 at Macedonia Baptist Church in Alton Missouri at 1:00 pm, with the service following at 2:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow, at Macedonia Cemetery.
