Evelyn Marie Ederer, born December 10th, 1938, departed this life for her heavenly home on November 28th, 2023. She was 84.
On December 1st, 1962, Evelyn married the love of her life, Nicholas “Nick” J. Ederer who preceded her in death on March 5th, 2017. They began their married life in St. Louis, Missouri before moving back to their hometown of Doniphan to raise their family.
A devoted Christian, Evelyn had many favorite verses of scripture that she cherished and referred to often. Evelyn was known by her family as a tremendous cook and each child/grandchild had a favorite “signature” dish that she would prepare for them as soon as they asked. She was also a natural homemaker who had a passion and talent for decorating and design and loved to keep her home inviting. Her love of travel with friends and family took her to all parts of the world with some of her favorites being most of the European countries, the Mediterranean, and Africa, just to name a few off the long list that she would reminisce ever so often over. Evelyn enjoyed wintering with her husband, Nick, in the Texas Rio Grande Valley for several years along with dear friends that would do the same. She always looked forward to her Friday nights out with Nick and their beloved circle of friends and was excited to plan where they would go and make all the arrangements. She was blessed with many special friends that have kept in touch for decades and was a true and genuine friend as well. Evelyn will be missed beyond measure by her family and friends and will leave a lifetime of legacy for her children and grandchildren.
Evelyn is survived by her three children, Lisa (Larry) Moore of Nixa, Missouri, Joe (Randi) Ederer of Doniphan, Missouri, and Natalie (Stephen) Smith of Doniphan, Missouri; eight grandchildren: Layton (Danny) Brown, Lachlan Moore, Justin Ederer, Haley (Alex) Nance, Emily Ederer, Stephanie (Shayne) Talburt, Hunter (Shana) Smith, and Colton Smith; six great-grandchildren: Braidy and Landry Talburt, Crue and Mabree Smith, and Nolan and Sadie Nance. Evelyn also is survived by one brother-in-law, Larry Casteel; two sisters-in-law, Carole (Ederer) Chilton and Jeanette (Slagle) Stilwell; along with many special nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was the oldest child of Jack and Irene Stilwell. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Jackie Stilwell, Donnie Stilwell, Bonnie Casteel, and Philip Stilwell.
