Faye Dye, 94 years, 8 months, and 27 days old, passed peacefully to Heaven on March 7, 2022 at Legacy Senior Living in Iowa City, Iowa.
Faye was born June 11, 1927 in Ava, Missouri to Ivy and Minnie (Shelton) Rippee. She grew up in the Turkey Creek community near Ava.
On May 10, 1953 Faye and Harold Eugene Dye were united in marriage in Ava, Missouri and to this union two sons were born, Allen Wayne Dye and Ronald Eugene Dye.
Faye was a retired public school teacher. She received her Masters Degree in Education. She began her career in teaching in a rural one room school in Norwood, MO, then Skyline Schools. She taught Remedial Reading for many years at the Ava Public Schools. Faye was a Christian and a devoted member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Ava. She taught Sunday School in the church for many years. Faye loved to teach and especially sharing the word of God.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Harold in 2011.
She is survived by her two sons, Allen Dye and wife, Lynn of Iowa City, Iowa and Ronald Dye of Wilmington, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Christopher Dye and wife, Bridget and Katherine Dye; one great-grandson, Robert; two sisters and their spouses, Wilma and Joe Weter of Springfield, MO and Wanda and Don Norwood of Texas and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service for Faye will be Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial following in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday prior to the service from 9:00 A.M. to service time. Officiating will be Pastor Rick Spacek. Family requests donations in her memory to First Southern Baptist Church (Ava), Good News Bible Church ( Iowa City), Alzheimer’s Association, or Avalon Hospice.
