Faye Emogene Jenkins age 95yrs 10 months and 2 days made her spiritual journey at her home with her children by her side on July 3rd 2022. Emogene was born on September 1st 1926 in Roy Mo. to Ernest and Jewell (Fowler) Ellison. She was the oldest of five siblings. She had a great personality and most all that knew her enjoyed her company. You never had to wonder what she was thinking because she was quick to let you know what was on her mind.
She met Roy Dencil Denney in 1950 together they started their family in Seymour Mo. later moving to California and adding to their family before returning back to their home in Seymour Mo. She was a very strong willed woman and loved her family deeply.
Emogene was a hard worker she worked for various businesses around Ava Mo. Later in life she married Verlin Jenkins and together they owned and operated a little family business called the Hillbilly Hideout. They took pride in having good service and serving the best burgers along with wonderful milkshakes and malts. Emogene was a people person and many friends along her walk of life.
She moved to Seymour after the loss of her two husbands and went to work at the Head Apple Orchard. She enjoyed her job there it was like family and family was her most valuable treasure in life along with her friends. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends fixing big dinners for them to enjoy. Christmas was one of her favorite Holidays she would start decorating after Thanksgiving along with baking and making her Christmas candies of all sorts. She was a great cook!!! She enjoyed a good game of dominoes, rummy, and many other card games. She really liked to play to pitch but if you weren’t above average player you didn’t want to be her partner she didn’t take losing lightly. Emogene was a Christian and woman of faith! She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Emogene is proceeded in death by her parents and two sons Larry Ellison and Jimmy Denney. Along with her siblings Jim Ellison, Neta Gray, Patsy Forest and Peggy Routh. She is survived by her children Rick Denney, Joe Denney (Tammy Washburn), Roger Denney, Randy Denney, and Robin Moore all of Seymour Mo and Ronda Nash (Dean Nash) of Ava Mo. She has nine Grandchildren, ten Great Grandchildren, and two Great Great Grandchildren as well as many Nieces, Nephews and host of Friends.
Graveside memorial services for Emogene will be Friday, July 8, 2022 at 10:30 A.M. at the Denney Cemetery on K Hwy., Ava, MO. Officiating will be Pastor Josh Embrey. Please omit flowers upon Emogene’s request make donations to the Hospice Compassus of Springfield, MO. They were a big help in keeping her home. A dinner will be set for those who would like to attend at the Gentry Church across from the Cemetery. Cremation services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
