Floyd Lee Craig was born December 26, 1943, in Hartville, Missouri, to Albert and Rosa Craig, and departed this life on September 26, 2024.
Floyd was born into a Christian home. His parents taught him the Bible and the value of living by its words. He was saved and baptized at a young age, and became a lifelong member of Little Creek Church. In his later years, he also attended Dawson Assembly of God Church with his family.
Floyd graduated from Hartville High School with the class of 1962. In 1964, he was united in marriage to Vynita June Lathrom. Three children were born to this union: daughter, Norma Jean, daughter, Cynthia Anne, and son, Jeffrey Lee. Early in his career, he worked as a mechanic at Ralph Young’s garage in Hartville, Missouri, for a few years. He learned valuable mechanic skills that served him well throughout the rest of his life.
In hopes of a better life, he moved his family to Wichita, Kansas, and flipped burgers while waiting for his dream job at Boeing aircraft! After working there for a while and missing home, the family moved back to Missouri.
Floyd was always looking for a better job, finding employment at Foremost Dairy. Upon the closing of the company, he finally settled at Red Rocket, driving a truck, meeting lots of people, and making many friends!
Floyd loved lake life and enjoyed fishing. He also enjoyed collecting and restoring tractors, and working on lawnmowers alongside his son, Jeff. He was involved in the Older Iron Club and enjoyed going to tractor shows and tractor pulls with his grandson and his friends.
He had the best sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh and good food. Floyd was color blind and he once bought a brown Ford LTD that turned out to be a green Ford LTD when he brought it home and showed his family. He never met a stranger! He always enjoyed getting together with friends for cookouts, card games, and pool tournaments. He earned the nickname “Billy Flood” from his billiards friends and it also became his CB handle.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Vynita, two brothers, Owen and Odis, and two sisters, Avis and Olive.
He is survived by his sister Dorothy Craig of Hartville, Missouri, his children, Norma Postlewait and husband David of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Cindy Davis and husband Dowell of Cabool, Missouri, and Jeff Craig of Manes, Missouri, four grandchildren, Jade Manczuk and husband Brandan of Rogersville, Missouri, Trason Davis of Cabool, Missouri, Angela Burgdorf and husband Luke of Licking, Missouri, and Alex Akin and wife Miranda of Casper, Wyoming, four great-grandchildren, Kasimir and Rubi Manczuk, Melody Tate, and Eli Burgdorf, the love of his life Genia Craig, his long-time friend, Annie Sinclair of Hartville, Missouri, and a host of nieces and nephews and friends who will miss him.
