Gary “Buckshot” Hollis, age 86 of Alton, MO was born December 6, 1937, in Oregon County, MO and departed this earth on May 30, 2024 at his home.
He is survived by wife Dorothy Crabtree-Hollis, two sons James Hollis, Joe Hollis and wife April, daughter Leslie Sisco and husband Jason, brother Mitt Hollis and wife Dianne. Five grandchildren, Anna Bates and husband Everett, Erica Adolphson and husband Sean, Whitney Walker and husband Cody, Newt Hollis, Katelyn Sisco and husband Holden, 12 great-grandkids, several nieces and nephews, one Aunt Betty Crabtree.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Newt and Joyce Hollis, three brothers, Lonnie, Rick and Sid Hollis, 2 sisters, Donnie and Joann, two daughters-in-law Linda and Betty.
Gary worked in KC for 13 years where he learned to weld, then moved to Alton and started working with Southwest Phone line for 12 years. He also worked on hog farms and pawn shops. He loved hunting, fishing, running dogs and raising chickens. He spent every second he could spoiling his grandkids and daily trips to the river with his brother Mitt. Gary will be loved and missed by many.
Services will be 2:00pm Sunday, June 2, 2024, at the Clary Funeral Home, Alton, MO with Bro. Bob Wiggs officiating, burial in the Hollis Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-2:00pm Sunday at the funeral home.
