Gary Lee Swain

Gary Lee Swain, 71 years, 11 months, 14 days old, passed away on January 16, 2025, at his home from a sudden illness. 

Gary was born February 2, 1953, in St. Louis, Missouri to Walter and Delma (Guess) Swain. He had three siblings, Mary, Sherry, and Jerry.

He was raised in Ava, Missouri, and he graduated from Ava High School in 1971. As a young child, he and his family attended Union Grove Church at Crossroads.

He was a retired machinist from R&D Leverage in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, in 2018. He received recognition for 25 years of service.     

He was father to two daughters, Becky and Jill.

Gary was an avid shuffleboard player and participated in several tournaments where he had won or placed. Gary enjoyed fishing and hunting until his health started failing.

His family was near and dear to his heart. He will be greatly missed.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Mary Leschinsky.

He is survived by his children, Becky Lynn Majors and Jill Nicole Boone; three grandchildren, Joey, Amelia, and Griffin;  his sister Sherry (Gary) Johnson and brother Jerry (Rosemary) Swain; many nieces; nephews; cousins; and numerous friends.         

Memorial services for Gary will be Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 10:30 A.M. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, Missouri. Officiating will be Pastor Sue (Siler) Clayton. Gary’s cremated remains will be buried in the Union Grove Cemetery at a later date. Family requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or donor’s choice.
