George Clarence Christ, 88 of Cabool departed this life on Jan. 7, 2023 at his home. George was welcomed on October 17, 1934 in Mascoutah, IL to Clarence and Laura (Culli) Christ and his sisters, Frieda, Erma, Helen and Dorothy (who spoiled him rotten).
George had several vocations in life; farmer, welder, mechanic, fuller brush man, all before he became a self-taught master cabinet maker and craftsman.
In 1983, George met Amy Jackson; he spent the next 25 years convincing her to become Mrs. Christ. On March 29, 2008 he fulfilled his dream when they became husband and wife.
George always grew a huge garden and took pride in selling his produce at the local Farmers Market. In later years, he and Amy raised chickens for meat and hens for eggs, this is how he earned the title of “Egg Man”. He was active in the Cabool Chamber events: Farm Fest, Car Shows and Santa Express.
George’s most cherished title was “Child of God”.
George was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters; sons, Roger and Rodney; grandson, Troy Kennedy and three nieces. He is survived by his wife, Amy; children, Rhonda and Bruce Kennedy and Shawn and Charlotte Christ; 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved and a host of other family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
