George William Hodges, 96, of Salem, Arkansas, passed away from this life on November 17, 2023, in Mountain Home, Arkansas. George was born September 16, 1927, in Elizabeth, Arkansas, to Robert Lee Hodges and Gertrude (Roberts) Hodges.
George was united in marriage to Betty A. Reynolds on September 23, 1946, in Salem, Arkansas. George spent his working years as a carpenter and was of the Baptist faith. He loved his family and friends dearly and all their family gatherings. He enjoyed singing and playing the guitar. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, and friend.
George is survived by his son, Chuck Hodges of Elizabeth, Arkansas; two daughters, Phyllis Comstock (Harold) of Salem, Arkansas and Linda Hughes (Bill) of Caulfield, Missouri; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, thirty great-great-grandchildren, two brothers, Leon Hodges (Joyce) of Viola, Arkansas and Waldo Hodges (Alice) of Elizabeth, Arkansas; two sisters, Lena Faye Barker of Viola, Arkansas and Roberta Cable (Eddie) of Kansas City, Missouri; many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife (Betty Hodges), daughter (Terry Hodges), parents, three brothers (Alan, Conan, and Bob), and two sisters (Evelyn and Nelda).
Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, November 20, 2023, at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas, with Bro. Johnny Williams officiating. Interment will be in the Elizabeth Cemetery in Elizabeth, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Travis Todd, Chuck Hodges, Bradley Robbins, Brock Love, Brandon Love, and Wrowdy Worsham. Honorary pallbearers are Shawn Mitchell, Bryan Comstock, Harold Comstock, Aaron Canady, Carson Guffey, and Randy Dillinger. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
