Glen Staton went to live with his Father in Heaven on March 12, 2024. Glen was born on February 6, 1956, in Mountain View, Missouri, to Dave and Dorothy Staton.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one infant brother, Glen Laverne Staton; two brothers-in-law, Jim Gehlken and Bill Eudy; and one great-niece, Kristie Gehlken.
He leaves behind his wife, Tisha; daughter, Cindy Asberry (Dave); son, Glen Staton (Christina); four grandchildren, Savannah Staton, Ethan Swank, Alyssa Staton, and Justin Staton; and his three sisters, Emma Gehlken, Blanche Reese (Kenneth), and Glenda Eudy; many nephews and nieces; plus many great and great-great-nephews and nieces.
Glen was an interesting character. He always had a mischievous twinkle in his eye, a comical remark, a joke to tell, or a prank to pull. He was the most entertaining person at the party. He had a knack for making friends wherever he went and had many life-long buddies. In 1975, he enlisted in the United States Airforce and the next year, married his high school sweetheart, Tisha (Letitia Smith), on November 6th. Together they had two children while he was stationed in Charleston, South Carolina. Their daughter, Cindy, arrived in 1977, and their son, Glen, was welcomed in 1980. The family moved from there to the Philippines and then to Colorado Springs after he was discharged in 1984. This is where Glen first found work as a truck driver, which was his favorite occupation. He enjoyed the ability to travel the United States while earning money for his family. His children and wife accompanied him on several trips, and later in his career, he and Tisha drove as a team. In 1987, Glen and his family moved back to his hometown of Mountain View, Missouri, where he established his small farm outside of town. Between his over-the-road jobs, Glen could be found tinkering with his son on some project around the house, taking his family on short adventurous trips, or caring for his rat terriers and chickens. Glen had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren, Savannah, Ethan, Alyssa, and Justin. He made sure to teach each one of them how to make biscuits and gravy, tend a garden, drive a tractor, and take care of animals. One of his proudest moments was watching Justin rebuild a Ford truck to drive when he turned 16. Glen was respectful of his family heritage and would often tell stories about his father and mother’s family trees. Most of all he loved God and all of His creations. He would often say that he believed what The Father told him. He appreciated the sunrises on warm dewy mornings and canoeing down the Jacks Fork River to take in the scenery.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2024, at Yarber Mortuary in Mountain View, Missouri, with Pastor William Thompson officiating. Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com
