In 1966, Glendon and Barbara bought a farm in Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin, and enjoyed farming life for 11 years. Glendon also worked at Wisconsin Dairies besides working on the farm.

After selling their farm in 1978, Glendon and Barbara moved back to Missouri, where they purchased the A&W Restaurant in Willow Springs. It was always fun for Glendon to run into someone who used to work at the A&W and they could reminisce about those “good old days”. His famous, delicious broasted chicken is still talked about and missed today. The family worked at the restaurant for 16 years and then the decision was made to sell the business.

After retiring from the restaurant business, Glendon went to work at other various places as he just wasn’t ready to fully retire. But he finally did retire in 2005. Glendon enjoyed fishing, traveling, watching ball games, spending time with his family, and visiting with friends.

Glendon was saved and baptized at a young age. He was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church. He loved working in the church as an usher and did a lot of maintenance work around the church. He also went on mission trips with the church to Princeton, Missouri, New Mexico, and Texas.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his children, Jeffrey (Felicia) Combs, Elizabeth (George) Colbert, Susan (Robert) Rackley, and James Combs all of Willow Springs, MO; his grandchildren, Melissa Combs, Aaron Combs, Matthew Combs, Sarah Colbert, Amber Lewis, Andrew Combs and Lucas Combs; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He is further survived by his sister, Patricia Pennell of Independence, MO; sister-in-law, Judie Seidman of Deerfield, IL; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Barbara Hamilton of Rockport, TX.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Greg and Dimple Combs; sister, Phyllis Richards; son, Steven Combs; nephews, Brent Pennell and Robert Hamilton; and brothers-in-law, Bryan Pennell and Edwin Seidman.

He was a wonderful husband and father, a wonderful man of faith, a friend to the community, and a great part of the Willow Springs heritage.
