Guy Emmart Wake, a resident of Willow Springs, passed away at Willow Healthcare on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. He was born July 1, 1933, in Vanzant, MO to Otis and Pearly (Turnbull) Wake and was 89 years old.
Guy attended school at Little Zion up to the eighth grade before joining the work force. He began working at a sawmill until 1953 when he joined the Army to serve in the Korean War. After an honorable discharge, he found work in many different jobs, but was particularly proud of his trucking, bulldozing, and Real Estate work. On June 19, 1970, Guy married Sharon Ford in Miami, OK. In his free time, he loved to go camping, hunting for turkey, coons, deer, fishing, boating, and participating in and judging horse shows. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
Guy was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Pearly; his son, Terry Wake; his brothers, Buster, Gardner, Estel, Arlan, and Vaude; his sister, Emogene; and one grandchild.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sharon; his son, Lonnie and wife, Rhonda Wake; his daughter, Deanna Mahurin; his daughter, Shirlene Mahurin and husband, David; his daughter, Brenda Wake; his daughter, Lisa; his son, Roger Adams; his brother, Johnny and wife, Pat Wake; and his sister-in-law, Linda and husband, Everett Brewer. He is further survived by 12 grandkids, 27 great grandkids, 5 great-great grandkids, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family requests any donations or memorials be made out in Guy’s name to either Wounded Warriors or Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital and may be left at the funeral home.
A visitation will be held Saturday, April 22, 2023, from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at Willow Funeral Home with the funeral service immediately following with Pastors David Lovan and Tommie Boles officiating. Interment will be held at Little Zion Cemetery in Douglas Co. following services.
