James Charles Turley, Sr.

James Charles Turley, son of the late James Richard and Bertha Pauline (Bartlet) Turley, was born May 28, 1952, in Mountain Grove, Missouri, and passed away August 3, 2023, at his home in Mountain Grove. He was 71 years, 2 months, and 6 days of age.

James was raised in Wright and Douglas Counties. He worked as a logger his entire life. On July 27, 1995, he married Ellen Larrabee in Mansfield, Missouri. They combined their families and all together they raised twelve children.

In his spare time, James enjoyed restoring cars, playing the guitar and singing. He loved to spend time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, James was preceded in death by one son, Floyd Turley, and two daughters, Barbara Turley, Juanita Turley, one granddaughter, Breanna Shannon, and one sister, June Calhoun.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen Turley of their home in Mountain Grove, Missouri, two sons, James Turley, Jr. of Sedalia, Missouri, and Michael Turley of Mountain Grove, Missouri, seven daughters, Sally Cook (Dale) of Marshfield, Missouri, Karol Nagy (Jesse) and Casondra Garrison (Joe) all of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Angela Evans, Valerie Barnum and Sherry Turley all of Springfield, Missouri, and Gina Davidson of Liberty, Missouri, four brothers, Carl Turley (Kay) of Mansfield, Missouri, Bobby Turley (Angie) of Ava, Missouri, Rick Turley (Syrene) of Hartville, Missouri, and Paul Turley (Jenny) of Mansfield, Missouri, one sister, Joanne Murray of Lebanon, Missouri, nineteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, a very special friend and cousin, Kelly Taylor, and many other relatives, neighbors and friends. He will be greatly missed.
