James E. Phillips

James Emil Phillips, son of the late Lee Houston and Genevieve (Havlak) Phillips, was born July 20, 1938, in Runnels County, Texas, and passed away March 20, 2023, at his home after a long illness. He was 84 years, and 8 months of age.

James served 6 years in the United States Army, entering the service at the age of 17, where he worked as a radio specialist and paratrooper. He married Dolly Allen October 2, 1961. Three children were born to this union, Carolyn, Steve, and Kevin. James and Dolly shared 61 years of marriage.

James was saved and baptized in 1988. He loved the Lord and loved studying the Word of God.

James always had in interest in electrical work and worked over 25 years for Tindle Mills in the maintenance department. He had many hobbies and was an excellent gardener and woodworker. He made many birdhouses throughout the years.

Besides his parents, James was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene Phillips and Bernie Phillips, and by one sister, Mary Phillips.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Dolly (Allen) Phillips, his three children, Carolyn Johnson and her husband, Andy, of St. Paul, Minnesota, Steve Phillips of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and Kevin Phillips and his wife, Paula, of Fair Grove, Missouri, grandchildren, Briana Johnson of St. Paul, Minnesota, Michael Phillips and his wife, Annie, of Plano, Texas, Andrew Phillips and his fiancé, Jasmine, and Ryan Phillips all of Springfield, Missouri, one great-grandchild, Calvin Phillips of Plano, Texas, and many other friends and relatives who will miss him.
