James Everett Groover, 83 years, 9 months, and 11 days old, passed away on June 30, 2024 at Mercy Hospital ER, Springfield, MO with family by his side.
Jim was born September 19, 1940 in Lebanon, Indiana to Winford and Mary (Edens) Groover.
Jim grew up in Lebanon, IN. He graduated from Pacific High School after the family moved to CA. He attended college for a couple of years on a baseball scholarship.
Jim and Lois Phillips were united in marriage in California and together were blessed with one son, Ronald Scott. She preceded him in death.
Jim was a retired Truck Delivery Driver with Coca Cola Company, Springfield Grocers, and other companies for many years. Jim was a hard worker. His job and work was his identity.
On July 17, 1998 Jim and Barbara Pitts Groover were united in marriage in Springfield, Missouri.
Jim never knew a stranger. He enjoyed people and he loved dogs, especially his three dachshunds. Jim was devoted to his family and his friends. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, John Groover.
Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara Groover; children and their spouses, Ronald and Brenda Groover, Jim and Chris Nichols, and Jean Ann Nichols; grandchildren and their spouses, Justin and Anna Groover, Danielle and Brad Hoffman, Samantha and Andrew Barth, Jessica Smith, Corinne and Jay Miller, Meila Nichols, Rowan Nichols, Barrett Nichols, Aaron Schuerger, and Aly Faught, and April Schuerger; great grandchildren, Everett, Temperance, Wyatt, Mason, McKenna, Ethan, Mira, Hudson, Everly, Charlotte, Clara, Avelyn, Cade, and Henry; other extended family and many friends.
Cremation services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. A Celebration of Jim’s life will be at a later date and time by the family.
