James Henry Barfield was born December 3, 1936 at LaFayette, Walker County, Georgia to Walter Amber John and Nora Belle (Swanson) Barfield. He passed away October 9, 2024 at his home in Hartshorn, Missouri at the age of 87.
He was united in marriage to Evelyn (Young) Barfield on August 15, 2008.
Jim grew up in LaFayette, Georgia and also lived in California and Florida. He was a carpenter and could do about anything. He worked for several years for Thomas Oil in Georgia.
He loved roping in his younger days and chasing burros in the desert in California. He loved going to casinos and playing the lottery. He loved mowing and took great pride in keeping his and Evelyn’s yard looking so good. He also enjoyed delivering hot meals to seniors in the area.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Gary Barfield of California, Gerry Barfield of Georgia, Kenneth Barfield of Georgia, James Barfield II of Georgia and Phillip Nelson of Georgia; sisters, Lois Barfield, Ida Barfield, Gussie Mae Barfield, Eva Barfield and Dorothy Barfield; brothers, Earl Barfield and Joseph Barfield and his beloved pet OOZE.
Jim is survived by his wife Evelyn of the home in Hartshorn; daughters, Judy Hernandez of Oregon, Tammy Hill of Tennessee and Dianna (Missy) McGaha of Tennessee; a step-daughter, Barbara Watts of Georgia; a sister Lucy McKin of Georgia and numerous nieces, nephews, grandkids and great-grandkids.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
