Jim Burke, 83 years, 2 months, and 9 days old, passed away on October 22, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, with his family by his side.
Jim was born August 13, 1941 in Marshfield, Missouri, to Waldo and Dorothy (Williams) Burke.
Jim was a Christian and was saved and baptized at Black Oak Church.
Jim was a Army Veteran and served as Military Police. He was stationed at Ft. Devens, Mass., where he met his wife, Frances. After his military service, he worked as an Ava City Police Officer for many years.
On May 26, 1962, James and Frances Palmisano were united in marriage in Bellingham, Massachusettes. Together they were blessed with one daughter, Angela.
Jim enjoyed working and fixing things. He could fix anything. He liked riding his side by side with his little dog and let her rabbit hunt. Jim and Frances loved to go fishing.
Jim was always ready to help people. He would always have the best advice and know how to fix it.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances; brother, Ronnie Burke; and his sister, Sharon Shelburn.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Angie and Chris Burress; grandchildren, Dustin and Paige Burress, Jessica Burress; great granddaughter, Aria Burress; sister, Shirley and Harold Miller; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Burial for family and close friends will be Friday, October 25, 2024 at 10:00 AM in the Ava Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
